Neil Doward’s reputation as an incredibly talented director and choreographer has grown exponentially over the years, with 2015 continuing that trend in style.
This December Neil is the only director with a nationwide special on NBC while simultaneously having shows on Broadway and in London’s West End.
As one of the most up-and-coming commercial theatre and TV directors in the world today, Neil is the creative driving force behind critically acclaimed touring theatre shows that have been selling out theatres worldwide; from the world famous Kodak Theatre in Hollywood to the Sydney Opera House. His big stage directorial career includes: Solid Gold Motown (Monaco Sporting Club), All Night Long (Tropicana Hotel Las Vegas and European tour,) Rock around the Clock (European Tour), Spirit of Christmas at the Kodak Theatre and Man in the Mirror (European Tour).
In early 2011, Neil directed Le Grand Cirque Adrenaline, a high-octane Cirque spectacular that premiered at Sydney Opera House before touring internationally. This marked the beginning of his collaboration with Simon Painter and Tim Lawson. Neil went on to direct Le Noir- The Dark Side of Cirque, and is currently touring the world.
Neil has proudly directed “The Illusionists” franchise from its debut at Sydney Opera House all the way to London’s Hammersmith Apollo (broadcast on ITV), and now onto the Shaftesbury Theatre in the West End - all while a sister iteration of the production is opening at the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway. To complement these amazing venues, The Illusionists have also featured in multiple performances in 2014 & 2015 on NBC’s America’s Got Talent at Radio City Music Hall, New York’s premiere performing arts venue.
This would be enough to keep anyone busy, but Neil is far from resting on his laurels. Early in 2015 he created 1903, better known as The Illusionists 1903 - The Golden Age of Magic, which premiered in Australia to fantastic reviews. In 2016 he’s going to complete the circle with a ring, a circus ring to be precise, with the debut of Circus 1903, featuring some of the modern world’s greatest circus talent staged in a time before aviation.
We can’t predict where Neil’s career will take him next, but his confidence on some of the greatest stages in the world, and his unparalleled ability to bring diverse and talented individuals into a cohesive whole, means wherever he goes success is sure to follow.
